Crispy, buttery apple pies are beautiful to look at and make great little apple pies for dessert or with coffee/tea. A great combination of apples, apricot jam, cinnamon and puff pastry.

Quantity: 12 Apple Roses / Preparation time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

4 large apples

4 tbsp. Apricot jam

2 Rolls of Puff Pastry

Lemon juice

Cinnamon powder

1 tbsp. Butter

Powdered sugar (optional)

Muffin baking pan (6)

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

2. Cut the apples in half and remove the core. Then cut the apples into thin slices.

3. Fill a saucepan with water and add the juice of half a lemon. Soak the apple slices in warm water for 3-5 minutes. This prevents the apple slices from turning brown.

4. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into strips of about 5 cm wide.

5. Spread each strip of puff pastry with a thin layer of apricot jam.

6. Place the apple slices on the top half of each puff pastry strip, overlapping and with the rounded side facing up. Leave a small border at the top.

7. Fold the bottom half of the puff pastry over the apple slices.

8. Roll up the strip of puff pastry, starting at one end, to create a rose shape.

9. Repeat this process for all the apple slices and place the apple roses in a buttered muffin tin.

10. Bake the apple roses in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy.

11. Let the apple roses cool slightly and sprinkle them with some icing sugar for a nice presentation.

Now your apple roses with apricot jam are ready to serve!

They are delicious as a dessert or with coffee/tea.

Enjoy your meal.
